Dorset Life on Rena Gardiner

Purbeck Rena for website‘The word autolithography – whose component parts mean to write with stone –could have been created for Rena Gardiner, and in particular her 1969 book Dorset: The Isle of Purbeck, which has just been republished. The landscape of Purbeck and its buildings, and the sense of place that Rena Gardiner evokes might seem to be long gone. But it is astonishing to see how fresh the images still look and, much more astonishing, how little many of the places featured in the book have changed in the intervening 47 years.’
