DORSET STATIONS: THEN AND NOW by Mike Oakley

£10.00

Over 200 ‘then and now’ photographs of Dorset’s 74 railway stations and halts, including goods yards, station master’s houses and other railway associated buildings. The book includes a schedule of all Dorset’s stations, incorporating their grid reference, opening and closing dates, and the current use of the site. Today only 25 stations remain open in the county, including 5 on the reopened Swanage Railway. Mike Oakley is one of the great authorities on Dorset’s railways and has included an introduction describing the development on the county’s railway network, as well as its chronological development between 1847 and 1995. As well as the photographs, there is a map showing the network at its height.
