PAUL HYLAND was born in Poole in 1947 and now lives in Dorchester. A distinguished poet and travel writer, his books include Wight: Biography of an Island (about the Isle of Wight), The Black Heart (Central Africa), Indian Balm (India) and Backwards out of a Small World (Portugal). His first book Purbeck: The Ingrained Island was quickly hailed as a modern classic. His most recent book is Ralegh’s Last Journey, about the last 20 weeks in Sir Walter’s life and his final travels
