Peter FitzGerald was born in Dorset, and lives on a small farm near Wincanton. He retired from his practice as a solicitor in 2011. Apart from farming and a study of architecture, he takes an active interest in hedge-laying, horses, books and the Arts. He is an active Chairman of a mental health charity, and a trustee of a major charity concerned with educating children about the countryside.
